Women and Girls Foundation of Southwest Pennsylvania

A nonprofit organization

The Women and Girls Foundation of Southwest Pennsylvania (WGF) is an independent, community-based foundation serving Southwest Pennsylvania. Our vision is to create a region where women and girls have equal access, opportunity, and influence in all aspects of their public and private lives. To realize this vision, the organization's active mission is to achieve gender equity by investing in public policy initiatives that will result in long-term systemic change impacting women and girls lives f

WGF's core educational and outreach program for women and girls. This program recruits and train teams of 10 women and girls in each of four counties in advocacy, negotiation, and social change philanthropy. The program takes place in Allegheny, Washington, Greene, and Fayette counties and began in early summer 2009. This program in essence combines what were previously separate programs - the Girls as Grantmakers program, Catapult and Road to Equity Tour, so that we have one 'signature' program engaging women and girls - in four counties - and training them to become agents for change and philanthropists in their communities. In each county, WGF will partner with local entities such as the community foundations and United Ways, to recruit participants and host meetings within each county.
