WV Citizen Action Education Fund

WV Citizen Action Education Fund (WV CAEF) is a statewide 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides original research and public education and advocacy on critical issues facing the people of Appalachia such as environmental justice & consumer protection, media access, people-centered public policy, government & corporate accountability, health care for all, and elimination of all forms of discrimination. Founded in 2003, WV CAEF has earned a reputation as an organization that strives to increase citizen involvement in the making of progressive public policy though its commitment to social justice and economic fairness.

West Virginia Citizen Action Education Fund (WV CAEF), along with its sister group, WV Citizen Action Group (WV CAG), helps West Virginians across the state build grassroots power and take on the critical issues that affect their communities.

Together, we empower citizens to get involved in what's happening in their towns and across the state-fighting for environmental justice, clean air and water, affordable health care, accountable government and corporations, and an end to discrimination in all its forms.

The philosophy of WV Citizen Action is that full-time citizen participation in the decision-making processes of our state is absolutely essential. Our staff and members work to increase the voice of the average citizen in public affairs through research, education, lobbying, organizing and coalition building - speaking out on behalf of the consumer, speaking out in defense of a cleaner environment, and speaking out in favor of a government that is honest, open, and accountable to the needs of all its citizens. We empower individuals by providing them with resources to be effective advocates on issues that affect their lives, families, and communities.
