Warm Blessings Shelter of Hope

A nonprofit organization

This Ministry was founded by John and Kathleen Chadbourne who had the vision to serve needy people and to offer shelter to those in crisis. Through their efforts the Ministry incorporated on October 23, 2005.

Through the assistance of many volunteers, supporters, contributions from the community, and operating space donated by the congregation at College Heights UMC, Warm Blessings was able to open on July 17, 2006. We served only 2 people on opening night, and on our 1st anniversary the Soup Kitchen served 87 individuals. During our first 6 months we served 1,542 meals, but today it is not unusual to serve over 1200 meals a month.

On December 09, 2009 the program served the first meal at the renovated site at 609 E. Dixie Hwy. in E-town. The move has allowed us to expand to serve a hot meal each weeknight and offer handicapped accessible showers and on a limited bases use of the washer and dryer.  We continue to run our 1991 Ford van for pick-up within the Elizabethtown area for those without transportation.

The support of this ministry comes almost exclusively from the contributions of individuals in the community. This support has brought "Warm Blessings" to hundreds of needy individuals. The vision is to expand to someday provide a cold weather or an emergency shelter in the area.

You are invited to join in the VISION.
