Warrenton Meeting Place

Since 2012 The Warrenton Meeting Place (TWMP) has provided a safe, clean dedicated facility for 12 Step Recovery Groups to meet. We have grown from a small handful of AA groups to over 20 groups spanning many areas of addiction recovery; AA,NA,OA,ACOA. In addition to groups who permanently use TWMP, we make the facility available for numerous other 12 Step groups whose local church or social hall has special events that temporarily prevent them from using those locations. 

The late Warrenton Town Mayor George Fitch had the foresight to see the need for 12 Step recovery in the local area as the population grew. In partnership with the Town we rented  the current building until 2021 when we had the opportunity to purchase it with the financial support of the local recovery community. Since then we have worked to make structural and aesthetic improvements to the facility, with a long range plan of increasing the space available for 12 Step Meetings, including using the second floor. We have already opened up the front room which is now used by a number of groups. We are truly a non-profit operation. Our Board of Directors are all volunteers. Our only costs are for building maintenance and repair, utilities, supplies, and insurance. Any funds in excess of these expenses are put toward our building upgrade and capital improvement efforts.

We have come far from our early days, but we have not yet achieved our full potential for supporting recovery in the Warrenton area. Some of our future plans are described in the CUSTOM TAB above. Substance abuse problems are growing across NOVA including in the Warrenton area. National Institutes of Health ( NIH) studies show the effectiveness of 12 Step Programs in treating substance abuse, including maintaining long term recovery, and at a patient cost significantly more affordable than commercial facilities. TWMP is dedicated to supporting all 12 Step Recovery Programs with a facility they can truly call "home".
