Wash Away Unemployment and founders have served within the local community dating back to August 2006.

As we approach 15 years of assisting well over 4,500 Craven and Surrounding County citizens by providing direct employment, advocating for access to employment, providing transitional housing, transportation, peer-to-peer support, consulting and a host of other supportive service and access to opportunities.

Over the past two years, we've stepped back and taken a arial view of our combine efforts throughout the years. We questioned ourselves, how could we best work alongside our community and community service providers, with a great emphasis on longterm options for individuals experiencing homeless, shifting from shelters to shelter or from recovery house to half-way house to transitional housing, etc.

We came to a conclusion with the input of community and regional partners; to realign and take a look at what happens after the transition process.

Is there a way that we can assist in reducing the cycle of transitioning into another transition? Can we assist to in making a few of the many temporary bed spaces available for new emergency cases? Can we assist in offering permanent options for individuals who have completed required phases of temporary living by shifting into a combination of (individualized, permanent,  affordable, universally accessible and therapeutic tiny home communities?

Our Goal ultimate goal will be to provide permanent housing for community citizens who face the greatest barriers to housing, do to a host of reasonings.

While, in collaboration with our local workforce development board, we will also provide a paid hands-on workforce training opportunity for those who will be residents within the Therapeutic Communities.

Many years we have been self funded through many social enterprise ventures and the injection of personal revenue from our founders; but we realize that it truly takes a community to move a community forward.

We've learned the model of extending "a hand"🤚 but with your collaboration, together we can extend a community of Hands🤝🤝🏻🤝🏼🤝🏽🤝🏾🤝🏿

Thanks to the 2020 National Chick-fil-A Community Foundation Award we were able to maintain ans add comfort to the operation of Bailey Springs Hope temporary shelter in Vanceboro NC over the last 2 years.

We are so Grateful for the 2022 National AARP Community Challenge Grant for extending their hand to build the 1st Home and give a jump start into making Permanent Housing Possible (PHP).

The challenge is to raise matching funds to build 2 additional units for two Veterans recipients who has been residing for the last two years in the temporary shelter.
