Washington Ambulance Association

The Washington Ambulance Association (WAA) is an independent non-profit ambulance service run entirely by volunteer EMTs. We serve the town of Washington and come to the aid of neighboring communities when requested. WAA responds to hundreds of requests for Emergency Medical Services per year. We are very proud to stand apart as one of the last emergency response ambulances in the state of Connecticut that do not bill patients. We are 100% free of charge. We are able to offer this free service because of our loyal, hard-working volunteers and your generous donations in support of our mission.

We will be using all money raised during Give Local 2026 to fund our operation expenses AND towards our capital expenditures such as new ambulances. Our workhorse ambulance "A1" is now 20 years old. We are actively exploring replacement ambulance options that are modern, safer, and more cost-effective to maintain. We are excited to move forward!

Who We Are

The Washington Ambulance Association is an independent non-profit ambulance service founded by the Lions Club of Washington, CT in 1942.

We are highly trained and dedicated volunteers who serve the town of Washington and come to the aid of neighboring communities when requested. WAA responds to hundreds of requests for emergency medical services per year. Our volunteers also provide standby medical coverage for numerous sporting events and gatherings in town. As a leader in our HEARTsafe community, we offer CPR classes at no charge to our residents.

We are very proud to stand apart as one of the last emergency response ambulances in the state of Connecticut that do not bill patients. We are 100% free of charge. We are able to offer this free service because of our loyal, hard-working volunteers and the generous donations from the community.
