The Historical Foundation, (formerly Washington on the Brazos State Park Association), was formed in 1955 to assist with the maintenance, promotion and education of Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site. We host the Texas Independence Day Celebration annually, a festival featuring historic performers, musicians, re-enactors and craftsmen. We also showcase the diverse cultures impacting our state with performances by Polish dancers, Irish Musicians, Native American Dancers, Gospel Choirs, Mariachi bands, German musicians, and more. WOB also hosts the annual Juneteenth Heritage Celebration which explores the experience of African Americans in the Brazos Valley and State through music, exhibits, speakers and demonstrations. Tombstone Trail, Christmas on the Brazos, Twilight Firelight and Stagecoach Days are just a few of the other offerings the Foundation underwrites, raising sponsorships through membership drives, and fundraisers. The animals at Barrington Farm are also under our purview as we support their feed and care.
"As our artifacts collection and programs continue to expand, an investment in Washington on the Brazos will allow Texans, young and old, native and new, to become more aware of our special past as a Republic and the visionary impact of our forefathers on education, transportation, business and agriculture,"
Cyndee Smith, Past President of the Washington on the Brazos Historical Foundation
" Washington on the Brazos is where Texas became Texas. Your donation will help us to teach young and old alike exactly what happened here and keep our vibrant history alive. From the old town site to the visitor center to the museum to the living history farm…with your help we have so much to offer!
