Mission

The mission of the Waverly Shell Rock Area United Way is to increase the capacity for caring in the Waverly and Shell Rock communities. This includes the fund raising for United Way agencies, stewardship of the funds raised on behalf of the contributors, educating the community regarding community needs and ensuring the continuity of our organization's mission through effective administration.

Programs

W-SR United Way's operating program centers on a major fund-raising campaign each fall. These funds are collected and distributed to local non-profit agencies in the Waverly-Shell Rock area. Each agency requesting funds must submit detailed financial information and give a presentation to our volunteer board of directors. The board then makes the final decision on fund distribution. In 2005, 18 local agencies are receiving money from United Way, supporting services for the disabled, senior citizens, youth, families, and offering health services and basic needs.
