Thriving Youth Program

A nonprofit organization

We are not survivors. We are thrivers.

Background

The Thriving Youth Program was founded on September 15th, 2019, by Wendy J Jackson and Marvin Jackson as an international social and human service youth ministry primarily based in Honduras, Central America. TYP provides economical support to low-income families by bringing educational opportunities to children ages 11 to 18 years old to enroll in school from the first year of middle school until successfully completing high school, achieving a technical degree in one of the following areas:

  1. Health & Community Nutrition
  2. Information Technology
  3. Accounting & Finances
  4.  Sciences & Humanities

What We Do

TYP is changing the lives of children and families by increasing educational opportunities and advocacy. TYP provides full scholarships including tuition fees, backpacks, school supplies, school uniforms, formal shoes, physical education uniforms, tennis shoes, graduation requirement fees, graduation photo sessions, and an invite to a graduation lunch ceremony provided by TYP's founders.

During the TYP graduation lunch ceremony two students with the highest GPA will receive an Academic Excellence Award of $250 US dollars cash each: the Bobbie Jackson Award and the Yolanda Retzlaff Award to the First and Second place respectively.

Our Mission

To keep children off the streets and out of criminal activities by creating educational opportunities to change and improve their lives.

"I am sixteen years old. I have no words to describe my gratefulness to participate in this program. I live with my mom, who is a single mother of three. My goal is to graduate from the National Autonomous University of Honduras." - Ezequiel Cabrera Herrera, student in the Thriving Youth Program

"I am thirteen years old. I was one of nine siblings. Unfortunately, my seventeen-year-old brother was murdered, and six-month-old sister died. Thank you for supporting me in this scholarship program, because I want to move forward and help others, just like [the Thriving Youth Program] is helping us out now." - Ilana Rebecca Ordoñez Colindres, student in the Thrive Youth Program

"I am fourteen years old and I live with my brothers and cousins. There are eight of us in my family, and my mom works selling mangos. My goal is to graduate to help my mom, and raise my family going forward." - Maryoi Fernanda Carias Juanez
