and Families with Low Incomes During the Holidays

Make a difference in the lives of children, working families, older adults, and people with disabilities and chronic illness.

Since 1974, Wesley Housing has provided permanent, affordable housing to more than 35,000 low- and moderate-income individuals and families in 30 communities throughout Northern Virginia and in Washington, D.C.

In addition to putting roofs over heads, Wesley Housing's award-winning Housing Stability Initiative (HSI), the foundation of our resident services programming, provides the support and resources families need to improve their station in life. 

The HSI provides support and access to resources in the following focus areas:

• Housing Stability: To assist with rent payments, our Resident Services Coordinators (RSCs) provide linkages and referrals to community resources (i.e. social services, local organizations, faith groups) to prevent and divert eviction. Wesley Housing provides direct financial relief as resources allow. Residents are referred to on-site financial literacy workshops and credit counseling to improve their financial health.  
• Job Stability: Our Employment Specialist (ES) provides one-on-one career coaching to help residents better provide for themselves and their families through more gainful employment. The ES helps residents identify job prospects, fill out applications, practice interview techniques, secure appropriate attire, and more. The ES also refers residents to our on-site skills building and vocational programs. 
•  Material Assistance/Health & Wellness: To help relieve financial pressures and mitigate food insecurity, we work with partners to provide groceries, hygiene products, and grocery store gift cards at no cost.  Fitness and nutrition classes, vaccine clinics, preventative screenings and more are also hosted at our Community Resource Centers.

As the cost of housing continues to rise, Wesley intends to deliver more affordable housing options in the region. Currently, our real estate development team has over 700 affordable units in its development pipeline to be produced by 2029, including new construction, acquisitions, and renovations. At the same time, Wesley stands committed to extending our Housing Stability Initiative across this expanded portfolio.
