West Avenue Compassion

West Avenue Compassion's mission is Meeting the immediate needs of our community, while providing the resources to help them MOVE FORWARD. We accomplish our mission during these trying times through the generosity of our San Antonio Community and volunteers. WAC provides food assistance to more than 450 families per week while also offering English as a Second Language classes, GED training, a community resource hub, a community garden, and an education partnership with Larkspur Elementary School. We count it a privilege to be good neighbors in these ways.  

Who We Are

West Avenue Compassion's mission is to "Meet the immediate needs of our community while furnishing them the tools to MOVE FORWARD". We have been working diligently in our community for the past 11 years meeting the immediate needs of our families with a weekly food distribution. In effort to help those in our community MOVE FORWARD, we provide GED and ESL classes weekly, have job listings online, senior distribution once a month and have a community garden.
Prior to Covid-19 our families were able to shop in a clothing pantry, we hosted education, nutrition/health classes and much more all available onsite. The WAC team is working on getting these available again as soon as it is safe to do so.
