West End Senior Citizens Inc of Buh

Imagine this! You are sitting alone in your home listening to the TV, turned a little too loud because you are a little hard of hearing. You have to listen to the TV because you are blind. You can no longer cook healthy meals for yourself because you just don't have the energy to do it. You hear a knock on the door and a friendly voice shouts, "I have your meal for you. How are you?" You grab the volunteer's hand and with tears in your eyes say, "Thank you so much for the meal and I enjoy your visit so much! Without this meal, I wouldn't eat and without this visit, I wouldn't see anyone."

That is the story the West End Senior Center hears frequently. Without the meals, delivered Monday thru Thursday on a donation basis only of $4 each, many seniors would go hungry. Many fundraisers are hosted by the Center to help fund the home-delivered meal program and the congregate meal program, each  so vitally needed. 

 It is easy to have passion about something when you believe in the cause. My passion is our senior population and the cause is, it is our turn to take care of them. Our senior population needs these programs to improve their dietary intake, stay connected to the community and most important of all, remain independent in their homes, where they prefer to be.
