West Louisville Math and Science Project

The mission of West Louisville Math and Science Project (WLMSP) is to build math, science and literacy skills among children within the African Diaspora and their families. 

Providing a space for families to learn together, with cultural relevance, is a vital component of strengthening relationships and transforming communities. We do this work primarily through hosting community events and conducting workshops for families and with groups who work with children. 

Our events promote intergenerational learning, connection to culture and connecting math, science and literacy to every day life.

There is a need for quality educational programs that are accessible to families within the African diaspora. WLMSP knows there are children within our community who are intrigued by math and science. Providing community-based programming not only serves to excite participants during events but has the potential to keep math and science exploration at the forefront of the minds of families who participate in our programs.

Families want their children to succeed. WLMSP wants to help provide the tools and experiences for those successes to come to fruition.
