Western Rivers Conservancy protects outstanding river ecosystems in the western United States. We acquire land to conserve critical habitat, provide public access for compatible use and enjoyment, and cooperate with other agencies and organizations to secure the health of whole ecosystems.
In every corner of the American West is a stream that needs protection, because it is habitat for vital fish and wildlife, because it is the scenic centerpiece of a community, or because it is a favorite haunt of anglers, boaters and hikers. Western Rivers Conservancy answers those calls with one of the strongest tools for river protection: land acquisition. WRC has conserved hundreds of miles of frontage along such rivers as the Hoh, Big Sheep Creek, Sauk, Skagit, South Fork Stillaguamish, Hoko, Humptulips, Nason Creek, John Day, Klamath, Madison, Gunnison and Sandy.
Your support for Western Rivers Conservancy is an investment in the great rivers of Washington-and in the future. You can help us move urgent river conservation efforts forward, including our work on Kennedy Creek, which sustains one of the most important chum salmon runs in the Puget Sound. WRC is working to ensure that all of the salmon-spawning and rearing habitat within the stream is protected forever. Thousands of school children visit the stream each year to witness the annual salmon return, and WRC is working to ensure that this stunning outdoor classroom stays healthy and accessible to communities of the Puget Sound and beyond.
