Westmoreland Cultural Trust

A nonprofit organization

Westmoreland Cultural Trust (formerly The Westmoreland Trust) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to stimulate cultural and economic development in the Westmoreland County region. We promote the performing arts; we preserve and enhance our region's assets for the benefit of the community.

Westmoreland Cultural Trust works to support the development and enhancement of the cultural life and economic well-being in Westmoreland County through community asset building, support for organizations presenting arts and culture, and opportunities for civic engagement.

The Trust has
• Invested over $18.8 M in community restoration
• Incited $8.98M annual economic impact
• Created 192 jobs in the area
• Hosted an average of 140 shows and events annually to improve the over-all quality of life in the region
• Awarded 890 countywide high school seniors in visual art, theatre and music
• Hosted 180 local bands at Thank Goodness It's Summer free concert series
• Provided subsidized studio space to local, up-and-coming artists
• Partnered with sensory-friendly presenters to offer disabled children and their families the opportunity to enjoy live theater entertainment

Significant buildings have been saved and remodeled. They are now in productive use, contributing to the betterment of the area.

The Trust has enlivened the Cultural District by bringing quality performing arts presentations to The Palace and providing special considerations helping a significant number of local performing arts groups to "Play the Palace." Our goal is to continue to grow as a strong community leader. Nationally-known celebrities, touring shows, and regional organizations present concerts, comedy, theatre, dance and family entertainment in the beautifully restored 1369-seat venue, providing a diverse array of entertainment to a vast demographic audience.

Membership donations are a key component of the revenue needs of the Trust. Funds in this area supplement the normal operating costs associated with managing four buildings. Those buildings include The Palace Theatre, James/Stark Building, the Union Trust Building and the Greensburg Garden & Civic Center. Current membership levels average $95,000 per year. Long term success would be a 10% increase or $104,500 per year.
