According to the National Endowment for the Arts, between 1982 and 2008, the percentage of African Americans who received arts education in childhood dropped from 51% to 26%. In contrast, the percentage of White young adults who received childhood arts education during that same period only dropped from 59% to 58%.

West Point School of Music is a tuition-free community music school serving black youth in the City of Chicago. Recently, our city has been in the national news for its violence that is claiming many lives. However, this is not the whole story of this great city. West Point is here making a positive difference for scores of young people through providing music instruction and performance opportunities. In this season of racial injustice, economic uncertainty, and protest, register your agreement with the refrain "Black Lives Matter" by supporting our ongoing work. With your financial gift, you will help us continue to use music to make great people.

MISSION  STATEMENT
West Point's mission is to engage urban youth through music instruction and performance; cultivating artistically connected, socially conscious, productive adults.
