West Valley Humane Society private, charitable, non profit Idaho 501(c)3 Corporation that relies heavily on the support of the community through volunteer services and donations.
West Valley Humane Society was founded in 2011 and serves thousands of animals in Canyon County and surrounding areas each year. Located at 5801 Graye Lane in Caldwell, Idaho the shelter cares for a wide variety of domestic animals.
Our mission is to reunite animals with their families and to pave the way for the next generation through public outreach, promotion of the human-animal bond, community engagement, and humane education. Our vision is to be a model of excellence in advancing animal welfare and promoting responsible pet ownership with the motto of “A Pet is a Lifetime Commitment”.
The shelter can house 200+ animals at any given time. We operate with a small professional staff and more than 50 dedicated volunteers. We rely on private donations for the majority of our funding!
Our programs include:
Sheltering and Reuniting
The shelter and staff pride themselves on caring for all the lost, abandoned, and surrendered animals in our community. One of our many missions is to reunite pets with their owners, in the shortest amount of time possible.
Adoptions
Cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, microchipped, treated for parasites, and dewormed when adopted from our shelter. To maximize the opportunities for cats and dogs to find their perfect match we process adoptions by appointment only. Appointment-based adoptions allow adopters to meet with trained adoption counselors to help find the best fit.
Clinics
We offer spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccine clinics to provide affordable opportunities for pet owners. We also offer juvenile spay/neuter packages and vaccine packages to help set your pet up for success!
Spay the Mama
Available to all Canyon County residents, when someone brings in a female cat or dog and her litter to us, the mother is spayed at no cost to the owner, to return home and the kittens/puppies are spayed and neutered and become available for adoption when they have reached the appropriate age.
Community Cat Program and TNR
This program is designed to help prevent the overpopulation of cats and kittens and Canyon County through the sterilization of Community Cats to be returned to their original location.
Reading for Rescue
This provides an opportunity for grade school children to improve their reading skills while socializing with shelter animals. It helps to calm the animals, prepares them for a life with children in a home and the animals receive undivided attention and treats.
Right now, a homeless pet is waiting for you to help.
