Whidbey Island Dance Theatre

Whidbey Island Dance Theatre (WIDT) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that seeks to be a significant cultural resource for the Whidbey Island community and its visitors, while providing dancers the opportunity for artistic growth and achievement by adhering to the highest standards of technique, choreography and production. There are three major events for which WIDT needs funding; revenue without which these shows would be impossible to produce.

WIDT’s dazzling production of THE NUTCRACKER has been especially beloved by the community for more than 30 years… with its dream of magical creatures, quirky relatives, elegant dancers from faraway lands and adorable, tiny performers in some of their first roles ever on stage. This community-infused ballet wins hearts and brings plenty of holiday cheer to countless families every year.

Each spring, A Celebration of Dance brings audiences this exciting tour-de-force of modern and contemporary pieces featuring the aspiring young dancers of WIDT, as well as professional guest artists and choreographers from the island and the region. 

Finally, the spring gathering at the Ballet Alliance Festival offers the young WIDT company members the privilege to participate in an extraordinary weekend of training with dance professionals from other parts of the United States. Here the dancers perform pieces for their peers in a professional environment, learning valuable lessons in working with other dancers and unfamiliar instructors, all while revealing the work which they have been crafting, rehearsing and perfecting throughout the year. It's a momentous experience for any young dancer.
