IN THE BAG! Our Goal Is $12,000

White Field Partners Days for Girls Initiative

White Field Partners makes children’s lives better in Sierra Leone, West Africa, through our relationships, partnerships, and development toolkit. Our efforts have focused on safe water, orphan care, education, agriculture, church partnerships, and medical assistance.

Our newest initiative is Days for Girls. Keeping girls in school is a key to reducing systemic poverty. Days for Girls menstrual hygiene kits help protect girls from exploitation and early pregnancy, which is a leading cause of death for girls in Africa.

The Problem

Millions of women and girls lose 5 days every month because they don’t have what they need to manage their menstruation. What if not having feminine supplies kept you isolated during menstruation? This happens worldwide to women in impoverished communities. They miss up to 8 months of school in 3 years to this issue.

Girls use leaves, mattress stuffing, newspaper, corn husks, rocks, the list goes on... all to try to stay in school. These often lead to painful infection. Worse, girls are often exploited in exchange for hygiene to keep them in school.

This also affects early marriage, as menstruating girls who are not in school are considered "eligible" regardless of age. It turns out this issue is one of the keys to social change.

Days for Girls Mission

Creating a more dignified, free and educated world through access to lasting feminine hygiene solutions. 1000’s of teams around the world are making Days for Girls Kits that are reusable for up to three years. The kits are being distributed to girls and women along with basic reproductive health training. The cost of one kit is about $10.

Vision Every girl and woman in the world with ready feasible access to quality sustainable hygiene & health education by 2022.

One Girl’s Story

“I am among thousands of girls in Zimbabwe who suffered during High school days.  I used to hate my period.... It meant l had to choose between humiliation of managing a period with no resources at school or stay at home. Most of the time l would end up using newspaper which used to give me rashes. l was very scared of messing my uniform 'cause it had happened to me and to others and the boys in our class laughed at us. We would stop going for awhile. It seriously interrupted our learning. This project is my passion.”  -- Linda Guzha
