White Horse Youth Ranch

It was a warm September day in Las Vegas when Lauren, one of our Diamonds in the Rough students, prepared to ride in not one but three equestrian events at The Nevada State Horse Show held at Horseman’s Park last year. This was a big night for Lauren and her family. You see, Lauren had only been riding since January! She came to our program a very shy 12-year-old who found it difficult to look her trainer in the eyes! Lauren had been experiencing challenges at school and at home and was hoping for her life to change when she joined the Diamond’s riding class.

Her life changed in many exciting ways! One amazing accomplishment was for Lauren to ride in a horse show after just completing a Beginner’s class! Another change was for her family to experience healing through Lauren's opportunities through WHY Ranch's program. And yet another amazing achievement was Lauren placing in each of the three events she entered that night.

 

Founded in 2007, White Horse Youth Ranch (WHY Ranch) is designed to be a unique nature experience for socially challenged youth, ages 5 to 18, as well as to provide a safe haven for both rescued and adopted horses. Amy Meyer-Terry, the organization’s founder, has had a long-time vision of helping students overcome difficult situations and challenging settings by allowing interaction with a horse and learning how to care for and ride these magnificent animals.

Through the Diamonds in the Rough program, children are given a unique opportunity to experience healing of their hearts, inspiration of their creative minds and encouragment in Integrity through basic horsemanship. We invite you to partner with us by investing in Clark County’s most valuable asset, our children.

In the summer of 2014, we opened the gates to our NEW Ranch Home (one that we have been praying for for five years). Our ranch will serve the youth of Las Vegas where they can be a part of a life changing experience that will help boost their self esteem through a Christ centered horsmanship training program. 

WHY Ranch is seeking community leaders to link arms with us as we set out to achieve financial and leadership goals that will help expand the program and keep it FREE. WHY Ranch will remain a FREE program, but we NEED the financial help of the community!

At the end of the day, WHY Ranch is a place for any and all to find the healing they desire, to build stronger relationships with others and to see that they are not alone in this life.
