Why Community

A nonprofit organization

$6,230 raised by 7 donors

Our mission at Why Community is to improve the physical fitness, mental health, self esteem and confidence within at-risk groups in our community. The primary group that we serve is kids with a focus on combatting childhood obesity which has become an issue across all socioeconomic levels, cultures and races. We also serve veterans by helping them combat PTSD and improving their mental health, Breast Cancer survivors by helping them to improve their physical strength, mental health and sense of community, and physically challenged athletes. On average, we have been able to help over 2000 individuals per year.

Each of the individuals that we serve is provided a complimentary entry to a local fun run/walk or triathlon to allow them the opportunity to train for and cross the finish line. For many of these individuals, their journey is inspirational and the experience has been life changing.

In addition, Why Community provides complimentary race entries to various local non-profits. The supporters of non-profits who receive these gifted free entries, set up peer-to-peer fundraising to raise funds for the cause they are passionate about.

Since the launch of Why Community programs, over 10,000 people have crossed the finish line positively impacting their physical fitness, mental health and confidence and over $2 million has been raised for various nonprofits.
