$5,000 Goal

The Wideman Piano Competition is a world class competition held each year in Shreveport, Louisiana.  The next competition will be in December 6-8, 2024 at Centenary College's Hurley School of Music and is open to the public.

The competition draws premier pianists from all over the world, with only 33 of 70 applicants selected to compete. Our contestants in 2023 were from the most prestigious music schools in The United States such as Julliard, University of Texas, New England Conservatory of Music, Eastman School of Music, Yale University, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Indiana University, and more. Contestants come from countries such as the United States, Italy, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Philippines, Indonesia, Armenia, Portugal, China, Canada, South Africa, United Kingdom and South Korea.  Winners go on to have successful careers as concert pianists performing with symphonies around the world.

Additionally, a Spring Festival was held in April where several of our winners performed in schools and Retirement Homes throughout Caddo Parish.  The aim of future festivals is to reach more citizens of all ages who have not experienced high quality music and to present a free concert to the public.
