Wildlife Rescue League

A nonprofit organization

We're already gearing up for next spring! We have until February before the squirrels and birds will start building nests and turtles will prepare to come out of hibernation.  WRL will be training a new group of volunteers to help our rehabilitators take care of orphaned, abandoned and injured wildlife in Northern Virginia.  Your donations help to provide cages, heating pads, formula, fluids and medications to take care of the babies and injured adults until they can be released back into the wild.

We always need volunteers to answer the hotline or transport wildlife from the vets to the rehabilitators. Trainings are scheduled regularly.

Please consider donating your time or money to WRL.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please email us at volcoord@wildliferescueleague.org.

Thank you for your support!

Double Your Impact for Wildlife!

For over four decades, Wildlife Rescue League has provided support to rehabilitators and has been a valuable resource when the public needs help with wildlife. During these years, our work expanded to include more and more of Virginia. As the public became more aware of our helpline and the need for rehabilitation, demand increased dramatically, often resulting in a lack of rehabilitation resources. Our dream has always been to have a wildlife center in the northern/central part of Virginia. As we continue to handle more calls from around the state and provide support for more rehabilitators, it has become essential that we meet this demand with a brick and mortar wildlife center. With property in hand, we are now taking the next steps to make this dream a reality!

Wildlife Rescue League (WRL) is taking a bold step forward to protect and care for our region’s wildlife—and we need your help! Thanks to a generous matching donor, every gift made during Spring2ACTion will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $15,000 -- give us $30,000 for wildlife!

Why Give?

Last year alone, we answered over 7,000 calls from caring community members like you. As the need for wildlife rescue grows, we’re taking a bold step forward: building our first-ever wildlife rehabilitation center. This facility will allow us to rescue and rehabilitate even more animals and safely return them to their natural habitats.

This year, your donation supports WRL’s “Putting Down Roots” Campaign—funding the creation of this vital center. With your help, we can:

✅ Provide specialized care for more injured and orphaned wildlife
✅ Protect and restore native habitats
✅ Educate our community about wildlife conservation
✅ Hire our first staff veterinarian to lead our rehabilitation efforts

Together, we can make a lasting impact on wildlife in our region. Will you help us put down roots?
