Founded in 2006 by Chair Emeritus Vic Wintriss and his wife Diane Wintriss, The League of Amazing Programmers is a nonprofit after-school program dedicated to teaching professional-level computer programming to a wide range of young San Diegans.

The League of Amazing Programmers places a high priority on making computer programming and digital literacy accessible to underserved youth, and has provided over 2,400 students with educational programming and 700 students with financial aid/scholarships since its inception.

The League of Amazing Programmers remains the only programming school in California that prepares youth to receive their professional certification, the Java Oracle Certification; to date, over 40 students have received their certification. Students that work to earn their Java Oracle Certification are provided a free and direct pathway into the tech workforce, and contribute to a more diverse and equitable tech industry in San Diego County.
