In addition, your donation will help ensure this 24/7 service continues to be available to Wiregrass residents like so many families on a limited income that dial 2-1-1 for help just to make ends meet.

Wiregrass United Way 2-1-1, http://w211.cfsites.org/, maintains the region's only comprehensive health and human services database and makes navigating the complex maze of the social service system easier for those in need. 211 Call Specialists assess caller needs and link callers to appropriate resources that can empower and lead them to self-sufficiency.

The 211 database is also web accessible, http://www.211connectsalabama.org/, making it easier for educators, employers, and case workers to find resources anytime from anywhere. The availability of 211 makes it possible to bridge gaps, coordinate services, and reduce costs and barriers to government and community resources for all citizens.

Wiregrass United Way 211 provides information and referrals to residents in seven Southeast Alabama Counties: Barbour, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Geneva, Henry, and Houston.

Wiregrass United Way 211 operates with 2 full time employees and approximately 20 annual volunteers. The staff and volunteers work with approximately 800 agencies to either coordinate direct services as well as provide information and referrals to residents in the Wiregrass that improve their quality of life.

Since opening our call center in July of 2008 through December of 2011, 40,135 calls from residents in the Wiregrass were made to 211. 75,351 referrals were provided for those calls.
