Founded in deep Jesuit traditions, the Washington Jesuit Academy is committed to educating our students through truly caring relationships.  Our students have enormous potential, but are the clearest example that beyond books and curriculum, children need the gift of devotion and attention to succeed in school and beyond.  We are breaking the rules of traditional transactional schools:

WJA students are a people, not a process, and our teachers are redefining what it means to help our students discover their best self.

The achievement gap that low-income males in the District of Columbia face creates a high barrier to their future success.  WJa makes a significant impact in changing these bleak statistics:

  • Over 50% of low-income males in DC dro pout of high school, and only 16% enroll in college.
  • 99% of WJA graduates are enrolled in or have graduated from high school

           AND

  • More than 80% of WJA's high school graduates are enrolled in college!

WJA's program:

  • 12-hour school day; 7:30am-7:30pm
  • 11 months per year
  • Small class size; 12:1 ratio
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner served daily
  • Supervised evening study hall
  • Daily mentoring and study hall
  • Comprehensive health & nutrition program
  • Support for WJA graduates through high school
  • Character education program
