Founded in 1990 by three leaders of women in engineering (WIE) programs at nationally-recognized universities, WEPAN works to mobilize universities and corporations to reach a largely untaped work-force resource- girls and women who traditionally have not pursued engineering.

Today, WEPAN has over 600 members from more than 176 engineering schools, companies ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 corporations, and nonprofit organizations. Members are women in engineering program directors and staff in academic and corporate settings, as well as faculty, deans and higher education administrators working to achive gender equity in the pool of engineering undergraduate and graduate students.
