Women in Transition, Inc

As a board member of Women in Transition, I have seen young women transform before my eyes. Young women who came into the organization insecure, untrusting, and concerned about their futures, are now self-confident.  They now have a plan for their future and know they can trust Peggy Murphy, founder and Executive Director of Women in Transition to help them to bring that future into fruition.

Women in Transition, Inc. was founded to assist teenage girls in foster care to develop and execute a personal development plan prior to leaving foster care.  This initiative grew out of the concern that many youth exit foster care unprepared to live on their own.  We at WIT believe that no child in foster care should be left behind.  Our mission is to assist young women to transition out of foster care successfully.

To accomplish our mission we hold an 11 week , instructor- led Personal Development Course, individual assistance pursuing goals and a 6 week Employment Preparation Program.  We then match participants with employers and a mentor within their field of interest.

Entry into our program begins with enrollment in Personal Development I, a rite of passage to young adulthood.  Upon completion of the personal development course, participants become eligible our other program offerings.

WIT will also provide our graduates with access to          emergency assistance funds.
