Women’s Development Center (WDC) has successfully provided housing service to approximately 45,000 homeless and low-income families and individuals over the past 23 years.

WDC was the first nonprofit in Las Vegas to offer transitional housing services to homeless women and children.  Over the years the Transitional Housing Program has helped hundreds of homeless single parents and children achieve self-sufficiency by obtaining affordable permanent housing and stable employment.  As the needs in the community changed, WDC expanded its homeless services to include victims of domestic violence, senior women, veterans, families, and people with disabilities.  Most recently, WDC created the Housing Stability for Families Program that provides permanent housing, case management and other wraparound services to homeless disabled victims of domestic violence, disabled veterans and their families.  This program is the first in the community to place an emphasis on serving disabled victims of domestic violence.

The agency has responded to the need for affordable housing by developing quality housing for low-income residents.  Now families, seniors, individuals, and people with disabilities have an opportunity to secure housing that is safe, habitable, and affordable.  WDC’s affordable housing has helped reduce the rent burden for thousands of families and individuals.

WDC created the Homeownership Services Program to meet the need of low-income first-time homebuyers.   As the housing and financial crisis hit, service needs changed and WDC expanded its foreclosure intervention and credit & debt management services to address the unmet need.  During the past five years, WDC Housing Counselors have helped thousands of distressed homeowners address foreclosure issues.

WDC’s holistic approach to service provision has helped thousands of people achieve housing stability, secure and maintain employment, and obtain the services needed to achieve independence.
