The Sun Valley area is home to an abundantly diverse collective of 200+ visual artists. Brilliantly illuminating the creative talent in the Sun Valley region, the fourth annual Wood River Valley Studio Tour opens the doors of professional artists' studios to the general public the weekend of August 20th - 21st with a broadened calender of art-centric free events running August 16th - 21st, 2016.

I think Winston Churchill had one of the best quotes with respect to art and the impact it has on society.  At the height of the war, British citizens were facing severe shortages and rationing.  When asked how he (Churchill) could continue to support funding public art, he responded "then, Madame, what are we fighting for?".   Art provokes thought, discussion and expression.  When artists open their studios and allow the public to to become invested in the process it is incredibly inspirational.

The WRV Studio Tour includes in its mission elevating the recognition of our community and state as world-class cultural destinations.

Throughout the year, WRV Studio Tour also produces and hosts events to offer opportunities to enhance the enjoyment and appreciation of art and to foster relationships between artists and the greater community. The Mosaic Project exhibition and online auction is one such event, held July 1st - 10th. Participating Tour artists will each donate an original work of art to be installed in a cohesive mosaic exhibition to be displayed at hte Visitor Center  in Ketchum. The artworks will be auctioned to the highest bidders.

All Wood River Valley Studio Tour events are FREE and open to all ages. For more information about Wood River Valley Studio Tour, please visit www.wrvstudiotour.org.

Suzanne Hazlett, Sun Valley resident, business owner, artist, nonprofit volunteer, arts advocate  Co-Founder/President of WOOD RIVER VALLEY STUDIO TOUR, INC.

I wanted to be part of something that contributes to our entire community. By creating the Wood River Valley Studio Tour, not only do we offer an opportunity for artists to showcase their work, we create a welcoming environment for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to learn about art by simply crossing the thresholds of artists’ studios. In just three years we have succeeded in engaging not only our local neighbors, but also our regional neighbors and out of state visitors. Drawing people to the Wood River Valley for a unique cultural experience also benefits the hospitality and retail businesses and other organizations that contribute to our visitors’ experience and our quality of life. Join us in supporting the Tour by contributing to Idaho Gives May 5th and take part in our community.
