Syringa Mountain School

The Syringa Mountain School is a very special place, particularly in its mission to provide an innovative, beautiful, inspiring education to children – tuition free. It is the first charter school in Blaine County and the first Waldorf-inspired charter school in Idaho.  

Our mission is to meet the cognitive, social and developmental needs of our students through our curriculum.  All children deserve opportunities to thrive and become well educated, productive members of society.  We believe this is best accomplished by providing a variety of learning environments that meet the needs of different types of learners within our local community; and by ensuring all families in our community have access to it.  Toward this end, Syringa Charter School offers an individualized, holistic system of public education based upon the Waldorf method of instruction.

The value of a Syringa Mountain School education reaches far beyond the classroom. Our curriculum is designed to create responsible and engaged citizens. Our family of parents, and our faculty, staff, board, and community friends further endorse our model of sharing through a spirit of volunteerism and giving.

As a public school, we receive state and federal funds that cover approximately 67% of the cost of running our school. At present, SMS as a charter school is prohibited from accessing funding that the Blaine County School District receives from local taxes.  In order to cover the remaining 33% deficit, we depend on donations. Please know that 100 percent of your gift will fund critical costs that are not provided for by our Idaho public school funding.
