Work2 Future Foundation

The work2future Foundation is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit agency that provides publicly funded vocational education and training programs in Santa Clara County and its unincorporated areas. The work2future Foundation was established with the purpose of creating and advancing new opportunities to connect workforce and economic development as well as to promote small business development, growth and sustainability. The work2future Foundation began operating work2future’s four America’s Job Centers funded by the federal Workforce Investment Act legislation in 7 cities in Santa Clara County from the San Jose/Campbell area to Gilroy/Morgan Hill, including the unincorporated areas. The work2future Foundation receives Federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) funding via work2future. WIA funds are distributed throughout the United States and are used as the primary source of funding for government job training programs.

Priority of services is for low-income job seekers, those laid off, homeless, veterans and at-risk or ‘opportunity’ youth. All adult participants are assessed and connected with a career advisor who guides them through work readiness upgrading which includes improving job search skills. This is especially relevant to individuals who have been employed long-term and then lose their employment and have difficulty job searching. Workshops and technical training are developed and delivered for industry sectors and occupations for which labor market data shows an availability of employment opportunities.

For young adult clients, we focus on the attainment of industry-recognized certifications, work readiness, an improvement in basic literacy and math skills, and placement in either a job or in post-secondary education with an emphasis on developing in them an awareness that they need to learn throughout their lifetime. The work2future Foundation has met the performance goals established by the state and is on-track to do so again this year.
