Workers Dignity Project

Four years ago, we launched Workers' Dignity with a handful of volunteers, some flyers, and a great deal of passion to organize as low-wage workers to improve our lives in Nashville.

And last year, we launched the Just Hospitality Campaign, joining several housekeepers in confronting Best Western Music Row and Comfort Inn Downtown's abusive labor practices.

After winning back $74,000 in stolen wages and compensation from these abusive hotels, Workers' Dignity membership decided to use the victory to begin a multi-year campaign to create long-term systematic change in the cleaning industry.

In just 12 short months, cleaning workers have recovered $87,000 in unpaid wages, two hotels raised their base pay by $3 to $4 an hour (previously some hotels may have been paying less than minimum wage), and unethical companies have been put on notice.
