YMCA of the Brazos Valley

A nonprofit organization

The Y is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Guided by our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, the Y is dedicated to giving people of all ages, backgrounds and walks of life the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity.

Over the past 20 months, the YMCA of Central Texas has worked with local volunteers to assess needs in Brazos Valley through community discussions and third-party research. Findings show significant gaps in afterschool childcare (400+ on waitlist), youth sports, senior wellness programs, and inclusive community facilities. In response, the YMCA is committed to restoring and expanding services. A Founders Committee of local leaders set a $300,000 fundraising goal, matched dollar-for-dollar by the YMCA for a $600,000 impact. This summer we launched a successful summer camp pilot program. The success of this campaign proved that this is a needed service all summer long for the families in Brazos Valley. Funds will support launching a successful summer camp, hiring local staff to grow programs, and opening a YMCA storefront offering afterschool care, youth sports, senior wellness, and other resources for all residents.
