Yates Fund for Cancer Hope

The Mission of the Yates Fund for Cancer Hope is to provide education and awareness about cancer prevention and the importance of screening tests. We raise funds to organizations whose mission is to provide cancer screening and support services to those affected by cancer, particularly to those in underserved communities and to under or uninsured individuals. This music event is our primary fundraiser held each year. We combine a day of musical entertainment and food with education, cancer awareness and cancer screening. Each year the event has grown organically with tremendous financial success. Numerous volunteers are engaged to make this possible. 11 years of concerts have resulted in net distributions of over $133,000 to local agencies and individuals. More than 1300 guests have received information about cancer prevention and screening. Annual financial cost of concert is approximately $3000. The planning of this event consumes 10 months of the year with trips to music festivals for musician recruitment along with organization/agency reviews. Every year our attendence has increased along with our ability to generate more funds for distribution. This year our event was also featured as the 'Pick of the Week' in the Pittsburgh papers Event sections. It has been covered by KDKA, WTAE and WDVE
