Yes In My Back Yard (YIMBY)

YIMBY Denver and YIMBY Fort Collins are a part of Yes In My Back Yard (YIMBY). YIMBY exists to make housing more affordable and accessible. We do this by serving and growing the YIMBY movement fighting for more housing. We envision an integrated and environmentally sustainable society where every person has access to a safe, affordable home near jobs, services, and opportunity.

YIMBY works to dismantle racist and classist housing policies and instead foster abundant housing. Our work protects what we believe are core civil rights: that all Americans have a right to safe housing that suits their needs, a right to affordable housing that costs no more than 30% of their income, and a right to live in high-opportunity neighborhoods that offer high-quality jobs, services, schools, and other public resources close to home.

YIMBY Fort Collins Highlights:

• Re-passed our Land Use Code in spite of very organized and motivated opposition who petitioned the first version. These changes seek to improve housing supply and housing affordability, while ensuring that new housing types fit in with existing neighborhoods.
• Shown up in support of multiple housing developments and homelessness support projects.

• Hired our first ever staff organizer!
• Saw numerous YIMBY-supported bills passed this year, including "Portable Screening Report For Residential Leases", "Low-income Housing Property Tax Exemptions".
• Hosted a record number of events with record turnouts and have seen steady membership growth.
