Depression, eating disorders, learning disabilities, diseases and disorders are often overlooked in families who are unable to afford treatment. Many families must find ways to pay for treatment or pull their loved ones from the program before they complete their treatment. Illnesses may be overlooked due to the hidden nature of the disorder; depression is such an illness. Currently, eight out of 100,000 teenagers die each year from suicide. Nearly three times more children die from suicide than those who die from cancer.
We are striving to have enough funds to help parents like Sarah. After battling cancer, she could no longer have children, Sarah and her husband Brian adopted two beautiful boys. Cole, the oldest of their children suffers from depression. Cole is only 15 and often struggles to get out of bed, and has no desire to spend time with his friends. Suicidal thoughts often enter his mind.
Sarah and Brian have fought for Cole to succeed in life. They have, enrolled him in everything available including hospitals, therapeutic-day schools, and a wilderness-treatment program. The treatment programs were helping, but funds ran out, cards maxed out and there was nothing else to sell.
With funds from Youth Champions Charity, we can give Cole and other children just like him a fighting chance at recovery. Please help us give Cole the life-saving treatment he deserves.
