Youth Community Service Inc

Youth Community Service (YCS) successfully engages pre-teens and teens, as well as community partners, in meaningful service-based learning. Now in our 25th year, YCS has offered more than 20,000 young people a place to belong and learn.

YCS was designated by the California Dept. of Education CalServe Initiative as the Service Learning lead for educators in our five-county region.  YCS programs serve students across the Ravenswood, Sequoia, and Palo Alto School Districts and include Community Service Clubs, Leadership Programs, Life Skills Classes, and Summer of Service Camps.  YCS has also participated in STEM training initiatives to use service-learning strategies to challenge under-represented students to solve real-world problems through critical thinking.  Each year the entire community is invited to participate in multiple YCS-sponsored Service Days and enjoy the benefits of community service.  

YCS students from diverse Silicon Valley communities build leadership and life skills, empathy for the needs of others, and a sense of connectedness, purpose and efficacy, while making a positive difference in the lives of others. Through service to others, these young people transform themselves and their communities. YCS programs engage youth to build gender and ethnic diversity among tomorrow's informed, collaborative and compassionate leaders. Through YCS programs, young people encounter mentors and role models who inspire them to future career paths and life opportunities.
