Youth Outside

At Youth Outside, we believe a meaningful experience in nature can change the course of a life. We lead the field by counseling, coaching and funding outdoor educators and thought leaders to ensure that as many youth as possible can partake in the life-changing experience of the outdoors. Because when we do, we improve the lives of youth today and create dynamic outdoor stewards for tomorrow. 

Youth Outside knows that in order for youth to feel truly engaged by outdoor programming and develop an authentic connection to the natural world that inspires a lifelong sense of environmental stewardship, programs must be culturally relevant. Youth Outside defines cultural relevancy as the ability to effectively reach and engage communities and their youth in a manner consistent with their cultural context and values, as well as addressing the disparities of diversity and inclusion within an organization's enture structure.

Youth Outside is addressing the issue of cultural relevancy by leading ongoing field conversations, operating a fellowship program and workforce development program, as well as embedding it into our grantmaking criteria.
