Youth Professional Development, Incorporated (YPD) is a 501c (3) non-profit organization that successfully provides intervention and prevention services for Prince George’s County Youth.

The mission of YPD is to eliminate the barriers that preclude adolescents from achieving self-sufficiency, becoming healthier individuals, more nurturing parents and productive citizens.

YPD was founded in 1990 by Richard and Josie Bowen.  Since 1990, YPD has provided services for over three thousand (3,000) adolescents living in Prince George's County, Maryland. The goals of YPD are to offer information and education that promote academic achievement, career preparation and to provide opportunities for personal, professional and parenting growth. Through YPD's Job Development and Work Experience Training Project (JDWETP), teen parents receive education, information, and employment opportunities that will equip them with skills to become self-sufficient. Our program services include pre-employment training, leadership training, life skills retreat and enrichment activities.

Youth Professional Development provides services for students in Prince George's County, MD.  Throughout the year we offer:

Job Development and Work Experience Training Project, Summer and permanent job placements, Peer support groups, Enrichment activities, College tours, Career development mentoring, Job Fairs, Benefits of work, Pre-employment training workshops, Leadership and Life Skills Retreats, Baby shower, Holiday party, Cooperative Vocational Education, and Professional Image Building Activities.

The teachers, county government, corporate and private businesses, foundations and volunteers here in Prince George’s County play a significant role in helping YPD as we work to help students achieve their personal, parenting and  professional career goals.
