On warm spring evenings at the Miracle League, you can see the smiles on kids's faces as they crack a ball across the field or give their all to run to the next base. Spectators and coaches roar. Some can't hide the tears that well in their eyes.
Games on the Miracle League field are especially significant, considering the players have special needs and would not have this experience if not for the Youth Sports Park.
The Youth Sports Park is a feature within the Brehm Park Family Recreation Center in Yucca Valley.
Generous donations from the Brehm family, along with community donations and grants, have made this new park possible.
The joy of recreation should be available to people of all abilities. It should also include activities outside of conventional team sports. That's what we believe and that's what we're making possible, thanks to generous donations from community members like you.
We built the Miracle League field, now it's time to continue the miracle with a fully inclusive playground and an outdoor roller rink on the north eastern edge of the Brehm park.
We have started building the Basin's most innovative and user-friendly park with donations from those who made the decision to invest in the community and its future.
All it takes is enough people willing to give what they can to improve the quality of life in the Morongo Basin forever.
State standards indicate Yucca Valley doesn't have enough parks to meet the needs of the community. Furthermore, the Youth Sports Park is in a predominantly low income community, where families rely heavily on free parks.
The park sits across from the Boys & Girls Club, which has seen its attendance double over the last two years. There are more children and adults who want to play sports than the town's current parks can accommodate. Now more than ever, children and teens here need more opportunities for safe and healthy recreation.
In addition to the Miracle League field, the park now houses new soccer fields that give more than 700 children enough room to play.
Once complete, the park will also be the home of the Morongo Basin's women's flat track roller derby team, the Mojave Rattle Skaters. The team currently has no place to compete. Once a skate track is added, the team will be able to boost tourism and local events with its roller derby bouts. It will also have a safe practice space that will be covered under the team's insurance plan.
An outdoor roller rink will also pave the way for junior derby leagues, which have become healthy, empowering outlets for girls under 18 who don't identify with conventional sports.

The Brehm Youth Sports Park is being built in phases with generous donations and grants. It is already being heavily used by hundreds of kids and children's sports teams across the Morongo Basin. With your help, we can finish building it and change the lives of thousands more.
