Your gift of $33 provides the first night toward a new life!

Homeless youth who come to us with nothing will be able to start anew, beginning with the bare necessities – a toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, change of clothes, food and a bed for the night.

Your donation provides hope and support programs for kids in crisis to finish school, find jobs, reunite with their families and lead life on their own. They’ll have a plan and a place to fall back on if they need it.

This is the story of one individual who benefited from the services at Youthworks:

Kula moved to the United States at age 9 from Liberia. She had a difficult childhood, at times suffering from abuse. At 16, she was kicked out of her home by her mother.

“It was a cold night and the start of winter. I had no shoes on or warm clothes. She forced me out,” says Kula.  

Bouncing from one friend or relative’s home to another, Kula transferred schools frequently, yet continued to attend as often as she could.  When Kula’s school became aware of her situation, they told her about Youthworks.

She immediately applied for Youthworks’ transitional living program and got housing, educational support, counseling, skills to live independently, mentoring and more.

“Without Youthworks, I would have never found a place to call home,” she says. She was able to graduate from high school and, living just five months in transitional housing, move into her own apartment. She has a job, attends college, and serves as a role model for others who come to Youthworks.
