Today, we are honored to share the story of Madelaine — a Digital Skills Academy graduate whose journey reminds us what is possible when women have access to opportunity.

After the heartbreaking loss of her children’s father, Madelaine made the courageous decision to rebuild her life. She moved back to Atlanta, searching for stability, new skills, and a way forward. That’s when she discovered YWCA Greater Atlanta’s Digital Skills Academy.

“I needed new tools, new skills, and a new foundation. The program became a pivotal step in rebuilding my life with intention and purpose.”

At her side was her mother, Sigrid, who enrolled in the program with her.

Together, they completed projects, learned new digital tools, rebuilt their confidence — and reminded each other that it is never too late to grow or begin again.

Now, Madelaine is part of the founding team of a new charter school, teaching 6th-grade project-based learning and using her digital skills daily. Sigrid returned to the workforce, teaching 7th-grade math in her community after being named “Student of the Session” in the program.
