The YWCA National Capital Area is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

Our bold goal: A majority of women and girls of color in high need communities across the national capital area have the resources and support necessary to achieve personal, educational and professional success.

We strive to eliminate racism and empower women through programs including

* Education & Training: Adult Literacy and Workplace Development

* Youth Development and Mentoring

This is what we are facing right outside our doors...

- Over 18,000 students dropped out of the Class of 2008

- 27% of women living in the DC area have only a high school diploma or less

- 19% of residents living in the DC area lack basic literacy skills

Our programs are geared towards addressing those alarming statistics and we encourage your support so that we can serve more young women in the DC Metropolitan area. We have work to do in our effort to eliminate racism and empower women!
