OUR MISSION

Zaman is committed to facilitating change and advancing the lives of marginalized women and children, by enabling them to meet essential needs common to all humankind.

IMPACT

Since 2010, Zaman has served 321,000 individuals in Southeast Michigan and more than 2.46 million individuals worldwide.

In 2020 alone, Zaman distributed 376,046 pounds of food, provided 10,741 hours of vocational training, and collaborated with 583 community partners and over 540 volunteers to deliver life-changing services to women and children in need.

During the COVID-19 crisis, Zaman worked diligently to expand its services to the general public, providing emergency food and seasonal gifts to our neighbors in need.

KEY PROGRAMS

Bayt Al Zahra Basic Needs Program - Zaman's flagship initiative provides food, clothing, shelter, case management services, and other forms of emergency relief to women and children, senior populations, and the terminally ill.

Client Choice Food Pantry - An official partner of Gleaners Community Food Bank, this curated food pantry allows families to select culturally appropriate and nutritionally balanced food each month.

B.O.O.S.T. Vocational & Literacy Training - B.O.O.S.T. is ‘Building Ongoing Opportunities through Skills Training.’ These tuition-free classes in sewing, the culinary arts, adult literacy, entrepreneurship and GED and citizenship preparedness help women secure the skill sets needed to enter the job market or start a small business.  In 2021, B.O.O.S.T. will launch its workforce development program, placing Zaman at the cusp of breaking the cycle of poverty for its clients and students.

Plots for Tots Infant Burial Program - Assisting families that cannot afford a proper funeral for their fetus, infant, or toddler, Plots for Tots provides free burial plots and bereavement services.

Zaman Culinary Kitchen - Our professional kitchen supports B.O.O.S.T. culinary students, while also generating revenue for our programs by providing catering services and products like Loaves for Hope, an Italian-style focaccia found in local markets throughout Southeast Michigan.
