GIVE SA 2025 OPPORTUNITY!

This year, A Doggie 4 You experienced the highest highs to the lowest lows as we work every day for the betterment of our animal welfare community.  2025 started with a BANG when we purchased and installed new and stronger outside kennels for half of our rescued dogs.  The remaining kennels are projected to be installed in 2026 to keep all of our rescued dogs safe. In mid-April we lost a key staff member to cancer.  Additionally, our rescue had several staff-favorite sanctuary dogs cross over the Rainbow Bridge this year.  Recently, our spirits were lifted when 2 donors offered A Doggie 4 You the opportunity to conduct an anonymous 30K matching operational grant to start September 1st, during the BIG GIVE, and through the end of September!   

30K MATCHING OPERATIONAL GRANT:  assists A Doggie 4 You with the medical care rescued dogs need to transform them into an adoptable state and/or
to save its life. Microchips, spay/neuter surgery, food, vaccinations, medicines, supplies, and other necessities will also be covered by the donated funds.

What A Doggie 4 You does: 1. Arranges meet-and-greet opportunities for potential adopters at our rescue. 2. Conducts offsite adoption events throughout the year. 3. Transports dogs to out-of-state pre-approved adopters. 4. Partners with Hill Country Animal Hospital (Boerne) to provide donor dogs for their emergency dog blood bank. 5. Partners with Warriors Heart to provide free dogs to train in WARRIORS HEART Service Dog Program (Bandera) for veterans and first responders suffering from PTSD.  (K9 Hero, pictured below, our most recent proud graduate) 6. Promotes spay/neuter education working collaboratively with other Bandera County animal welfare nonprofits

JULY 4th
KERR COUNTY FLOOD:  A Doggie 4 You spent six weeks in the Kerrville area providing vital donated supplies to the Search and Rescue (SAR) and Human Remain Detection (HRD) Canines.  We set up a triage area where the dogs and their partners could acquire basic animal food, boots, supplements, over the counter medications and cooling pads.  The leader of Team Chase asked if we could find a way to transport the working dogs back and forth to the river and search areas.  We asked for help and our donors helped us acquire 5 new Ranger POLARIS Side by Sides.  These side by sides and our volunteer drivers were all over the search areas in Hunt, Ingram and Kerrville.  We provided services to Team Chase, Ariel Recovery, American Regulators, American Core and so many other great teams. Our work with these
groups continued through late August even though A Doggie 4 You did not receive
any flood grant money.

   

Our volunteers provided this service with no expectation
of renumeration or praise in order to help our fellow Texans during their time of great need.

Who We Are

A Doggie 4 You has literally gone to the dogs. Our dogs aren't just our temporary residents, they own their own ranch and are always welcome back once they are a part of our program. This rescues focus is on constantly improving the experience for our dogs.

The dream began in 2007, after Pat Godkin found an abandoned pup in the rainy, dark road and could not find any shelter that would accept him. She was at the lowest point in her life and just did not want the responsibility of a puppy. After unsuccessful attempts to find space at a rescue, Pat took him home. That puppy, she named Pablo, became the light of her world. Pablo became the inspiration for beginning our rescue that now saves and adopts out over 700 dogs a year! A Doggie 4 You provides dogs a safe haven while searching for their 'furever' family.

A Doggie 4 You promotes animal welfare in the community by sterilization, low-cost medical options, public education and outreach programs, and subsidizing medical care for low-income clients. The nonprofit removes dogs from euthanasia lists or unsafe conditions and rehabilitates and re-homes them to safe, stable environments. The shelter expands its services during emergencies to house dogs from floods and other natural disaster areas.

Our nonprofit relies on public donations to help pay for medical procedures, medicines, food, grooming animals, and other expenses that adoption fees don't cover. The Big Give donations helps provide a permanent facility for our dogs to live in while they await their 'furever' home.
