AAUW-Erie Branch, Inc. was founded in 1902. We have supported equity for women and girls through scholarships, advocacy, philanthropy, and research.
Our organization has an Adella B. Woods fund that is funded through donations and fundraisers, such as Erie Gives. Over the past 10 years we have used these funds to award approximately $100,000 in scholarships to help women achieve their higher education dreams. In the past 2 years, we have also awarded scholarships to New Americans to help us better fulfill our mission.
In addition, our branch has sponsored several Tech Savvy all day programs for students in middle school and their parents to showcase Tech Savvy careers that pay well and are in high demand. This fall we are giving funds to Harding Middle School for a Tech Savvy program. The grant money for said projects was funded by AAUW National.
Members of our organization come from diverse fields. We are committed to life-long learning. We hold monthly program meetings led by experts that highlight issues that affect our community and nation, especially those that most affect women and girls.
