ABCDD Girls Recreational Softball League

The ABCDD Girls Softball League's mission is to promote, support, provide safety and cooperation for all girls fast pitch players in the area.

The ABCDD Girls Softball League is a recreational softball league in Grand Island, Nebraska. It was founded in 1962 by Bob and Marge Sorensen, who envisioned a league where all girls, regardless of ability, would have a chance to participate in softball. 2025 will be our 63rd season! Our self-supporting league is run by a group of dedicated Board members that volunteer their time year round to make the program better for girls in our league, who range in age from 4-19. Any extra funds we have are put back into the program and the complex. In recent years we have added scoreboards to three fields, batting cages, done numerous upgrades to our dated concession stand, among many other field and facility improvements at the city owned complex. 2019 was a big year for us as we moved to the newly built Veterans Athletic Complex/West for our games. While we miss playing games at Sorensen Complex, we are excited about the brand new facility and grateful to the city of Grand Island for providing us with the opportunity!

Our league consists of board members and coaches, all of whom are volunteers. Everyone does there part to help promote the sport of softball to all girls from ages 4-19. Teaching the basic fundamentals of the sport such as hitting and fielding, working together as a team, respecting other players and coaches, good sportsmanship, and helping them develop throughout their years in the sport. This is a rec league that allows any girl to play no matter her skill level. #welovetowatchthemplay
