On September 5, 1989, the doors of Scranton Area Christian Academy (affectionately known as SACA), were opened to educate children of all denominations.  Housed first in the Peckville Assembly of God Church, SACA later moved to the Clarks Green Assembly of God and changed its name to reflect the community it was serving – Abington Christian Academy (ACA). In June of 2016 the Academy relocated to the Chinchilla United Methodist Church, holding classes in a beautiful, spacious, and accommodating building.  The Academy served children from Pre-K3 through 6th grade, growing as a center for early education with the addition of grades 7 and 8. Unexpectedly, in December 2025 Chinchilla UMC closed and ACA quickly relocated. We were welcomed to Peckville Assembly of God, Blakely.

Over the past 36 years ACA has been blessed to shape – and to be shaped – by the students, teachers, administrators, board members and organizations who have contributed to its legacy. We stand today on the shoulders of faithful people who have given time, talents, and financial resources on behalf of the hundreds of young people who have passed through our doors. As we continue to expand and mature, we invite support from those who believe in our classical Christian worldview for donations immediate and long term. Thank you to all who have been faithful supporters of our academy

Our Distinctives

  • A Biblical, Christian Worldview. Loving and thoughtful presentation of our beliefs inculcated throughout all subject areas. We believe God is, and that He is Truth, and that all truth is His truth.

  • A Classical Model of Education. Our educational philosophy is founded upon the ancient Trivium, a three-part paradigm of learning with methods that appeal to, and are effective with, the grain of childhood development.

  • Well-educated and experienced Christian teachers and Instructional Aides who practice being godly role models to our students; who walk with the Lord daily; who love God’s Word and love God’s children!

  •  Full day Kindergarten program

  •  Daily Bible instruction and weekly chapel worship times.

  • Phonemic Awareness and Systematic Phonics instruction in our primary grades

  • Cursive handwriting instruction which activates multiple areas of the brain, especially the cerebellum. Research shows cursive writing gets the entire brain working!

  •  Latin instruction in grades 4 - 8 to build English grammar and vocabulary and to lay a firm groundwork for later foreign language studies.

  • Immersion in chronological history studies with hands-on, “living” experiences and field trips

  • Diverse student population Integration of fine arts with subject matter at all grade levels

  • Detecting fallacious thinking, crafting winsome arguments, and making connections among subject area content are some of the skills our Dialectic Stage students develop and hone.
