A Call to Conscience, Inc.

A Call to Conscience celebrates eight years inspiring the community with performances that have provoked audiences to engage in conversations of activism to address the struggles of the marginalized and the oppressed. The productions of 'Unsung Voices of Black St. Louis", "Justice Too Long Delayed", "The TD McNeal Story: From Servitude to Civil Rights", "Celebrating the Power of Dreams: The Annie Malone Story" all at the Missouri History Museum which had standing room attendance at all performances. In 2019, we collaborated with Jazz St. Louis to present "Next to Normal: The Thelonious Monk Story" which was filled to capacity for both nights in June 2019 and then back to the Missouri History Museum for "Times A Gettin' Harder: Stories of the Great Migration. Historically, our programs are very well received as we strive to tell the rich, diverse, and complex history of the St. Louis and beyond from multiple perspectives.

This year, we will produce a documentary about St. Louis icon, Annie Minerva Turnbo Pope Malone highlighting her as a scientist and an inspiration that falls in line with the promotion of STEM.

C2C strives to create original work that challenges the audiences to confront and deal with the social injustices that are prevalent today. The productions promote unity and create a safe environment for debate, self-expression, and interactivity not only for the cast but the viewing community. The programming sparks provocative thought inspiring the audience to become involved with advocacy groups that relate to our presentation. Various groups related to the focus of the play are invited to provide informational resources about their organizations to assist those individuals expressing an interest in becoming involved in a grassroots advocacy organization. All C2C productions have an interactive talk-back after each performance with representatives from various cultural institutions. The representative will initiate a dialogue whereby audience members will be invited to discuss the issues raised and the role of the institutions to address the root cause of issues.
